Subscription Plans and Billing Explained

Updated this week

Sign Customiser offers flexible billing plans for both Shopify and Universal platforms. This guide explains how our billing works, how to handle plan changes, and answers common questions about subscriptions, usage limits, and refunds.

If you want to use our app on both Shopify and Universal platforms (e.g. WordPress, WIX, Webflow or Squarespace), you must purchase a separate plan for each platform.

Our Pricing Plans

We offer three subscription plans: Seed, Growth, and Ultimate, designed to suit businesses of different sizes and needs. All plans are recurring, flat-rate subscriptions. Your pricing is based on the number of orders per month that include products created using the Sign Customiser app.

Billing cycle: All plans are billed on a rolling 30-day cycle, and not by calendar month.

To subscribe to any of the plans, go to your account settings and choose the plan that best matches your order volume. Learn how to subscribe to a plan here.

Annual Plans and Discounts

  • Save 20% with an annual subscription

  • The full amount is charged upfront for the year

  • If you upgrade during your annual plan, any unused amount is automatically credited towards your new plan

What Happens If You Go Over Your Plan Limit?

  • You get a 30-day grace period to upgrade

  • You will receive multiple emails throughout the cycle, and a dashboard notification will be displayed in the admin section of your customiser.

  • If no upgrade is made within 30 days, your customiser will be disabled, and new products will not be generated

Downgrading Your Plan

  • You can downgrade once your monthly order volume drops below the plan limit in the past 30 days. For example, if you are on GROWTH_40 and had 25 orders in the last 30 days, you can downgrade to GROWTH_30.

  • Plan changes take effect immediately, but billing adjustments may vary depending on when the change is made.

Universal users: See Stripe Subscription Features for more information.

Development Stores (Shopify only)

You can use our app for free on Shopify Development or Shopify Plus Sandbox store. However, you must still select a billing plan. On the billing approval screen, Shopify will show that the charge is a test charge. Your store will not be billed.

Here's an example of what that will look like:

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I exceed the order limit one month due to testing or a spike in sales?

You will enter a 30-day grace period and notification to upgrade. If your volume drops again during that time, you can avoid upgrading. If the spike was due to testing, contact us. For extensive testing, we recommend using a development store (Shopify only).

My store is seasonal. Can I upgrade and downgrade as needed?

Yes. Upgrade when needed, and downgrade once your order volume drops.

How are charges handled when upgrading?

The increased cost is prorated based on the price difference and the days remaining in the billing cycle.

How do you charge when downgrading?

Shopify users:

Shopify handles all billing charges, your store may receive credit for the price difference based on the remaining billing days left on your account for the period of your subscription (see App charges on your Shopify bills for more information).

Can the Universal plan be used with multiple websites? Do they count separately?

Currently, all orders from all customisers count toward your limit. We plan to change this to a per-domain basis in the future.

What if I upgrade during my annual plan?

Shopify handles all billing charges. Unused billing days from your current plan will be automatically applied to your new plan, and you will pay the difference. See App charges on your Shopify bills for more information.

How do I check my order count?
