How to ensure a font is suitable for neon sign manufacturing

One of the biggest issues merchants face when first starting out using Sign Customiser is how the shape of a font dictates the sign size when working with all our letter models and especially the advanced letter model.

This is crucial knowledge and must be understood to make sure you succeed with Sign Customiser or, in general, if you want to sell neon letter signs online.

No font is sized the same. Font files are essentially vector files, and the bends in each letter and general shape of each letter dictate the size. Even though one font is similar in appearance to another, the final size can be very different.

When working with neon signs, you must consider that certain bends or loops cannot be achieved due to the physical constraints of neon material and that there are safe bend degree limitations which are dictated by the following factors:

  1. The thickness of the tubing material
  2. The electrical components e.g. the LED light diodes.

How to ensure a font is compatible with a manufacturer

For every font you want to use on Sign Customiser, you must check with your manufacturer to ensure that it doesn't produce a shape that is unattainable for a given size.

To make this process easier, you only need to work on a minimum size level, as the smaller the sign, the tighter a loop or bend would be.

Follow these steps to ensure your manufacturer can build a sign with the given font at a given size.
