Improving Add-to-Cart Experience for Custom Signs in WooCommerce
Improving Add-to-Cart Experience for Custom Signs in WooCommerce
Updated this week

To ensure custom sign products are properly added to the cart in WooCommerce, you need to adjust specific settings and optimize the user experience.

1. Enable AJAX Add to Cart

To allow custom sign products to be added to the cart smoothly, follow these steps:

  1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products.

  2. Scroll down to the Add to cart behaviour section.

  3. Enable the "Enable AJAX add to cart buttons on archives" option.

  4. Click Save changes.

2. Redirect Users to the Cart Page

Since it can take up to approximately 7 seconds for the custom sign product to be generated and appear in the cart, users may mistakenly try to add the product multiple times. To avoid this:

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Settings > Products.

  2. Scroll down to the Add to cart behaviour section.

  3. Enable "Redirect to the cart page after successful addition".

  4. Click Save changes.

This ensures that users are redirected to the cart immediately after adding a custom sign product, preventing duplicate clicks.

3. Show a Loading Indicator

To prevent multiple clicks and repeated additions to the cart, you can enable a loading state that continuously shows until the product is fully added.

How to Enable the Loading Indicator in Sign Customiser:

  1. Log in to the Sign Customiser Admin page.

  2. Click on Customisers in the menu.

  3. Select the customiser you wish to edit.

  4. In the left-hand menu, click on General Settings.

  5. Scroll down to the Cart section and check the setting "Manually clear loading state".

This ensures that the loading indicator remains visible until the product has successfully been added to the cart, reducing user confusion and providing a smoother checkout experience.
